SURFACE WATER QUALITY OF URBAN AREAS OF Gorizia and Nova Gorica

Activity 4.1. Data base of existing cross-border data relating to the quality of surface water boundary

Collection of data on the quality of surface water for traits Horn - Isonzo; Vrtojbica - Vipacco - Isonzo monitoring by state and municipal and monitoring of previous projects. Create a database shared with public data available. Updating the GIS by connecting to the database created in the project JEDIS. Statistical evaluation of existing data and their projection. Organization of meetings for the transfer of acquired conoscence and common work on this activity (thematic meetings between experts) .

Activity 4.2. Monitoring the quality of surface waters border

Revision of existing monitoring dil. Improvement and optimization of the monitoring system through monthly collection of the relevant data and optimization of sampling points. analysis of samples taken (COD, BOD, phosphorus, nitrates, toxicity, farmaceuticals, etc..) and their evaluation . Construction of facilities for continuous monitoring of some basic parameters. Mapping of invasive alien species, monitoring and evaluation lepidoteri day of field work.

Activity 4.3. Evaluation and establishment of anthropogenic pressure that produce pollutants and their related risk

Statistical analysis of data on the quality of surface waters. Identification of pollution sources (civil and industrial systems, sewerage, water treatment, etc..) And production of a map of the sources in the urban areas of interest. Assessment of indicators of pollution (COD, BOD, phosphorus, nitrates, farmaceuticals, etc..). Transboundary environmental impact of pollutant concentrations and their existing biological risk (people, animals and plants) for the cross-border area. Proposed measures to reduce pollution. Development of good practices for proper study and renaturation of an action plan for a possible re-naturalization of the channels and the Horn of Vrtojbica.
